Festival of Voices - Hobart

We were really excited to be invited as special guests to this year's Festival of Voices in Hobart.  We had a great 5 days of workshops with Austin Willacy (member of the House Jacks from California, USA) and performances for fantastic crowds.

One of the highlights of the festival for us was being able to collaborate with Austin Willacy.  Jane arranged Alicia Keys and Beyonce's "Put it in a Love Song" for the five of us, and Sheona choreographed it for our performance at St David's Cathedral on Friday night.  It was a hit, and hopefully we'll get to do a reprise sometime with Austin in the USA!  That would be incredible.

We met so many great people, and had a wonderful time!  We'll try and put some new videos of our festival performances up soon!

Australia's Got Talent

Yes, yes, that WAS us you might have seen on Australia's Got Talent last night (4th May, 2010).  Wasn't Kyle rude about our dresses?  We were actually pleasantly surprised with how we looked on TV - not too bad at all!  It was all a bit of fun, but unfortunately we didn't go through to the semi-finals.  (Apparently that decision wasn't shown on TV?  I missed that bit....)

Anyway, you'll be pleased to know that we were encouraged by Kyle's comments to really think about our performance wear, and as you can see in the photo below, we now hit the stage in our brand new outfits!

At least Grant Denyer didn't agree with Kyle.  Quote from Grant about us, "Wholesome, harmonic and HOT!  That's what I reckon!!"  Thanks Grant!!

SingFest 2010

Well, we had a marvelous time at SingFest where we gave our 15-minute performance and had a fantastic audience response.  We were so excited to find out that we were placed 2nd in the ensemble competition (out of 26 groups), behind another Melbourne a cappella group "Suade", who were deserving winners and gave everyone an amazing performance!  Third place also went to a Melbourne group, the quintet "Blue Notion".

This year was the first ever SingFest competition, and it was hosted by Gold Coast choir, "The Blenders".  The festival was a huge success, and we would like to thank everyone who helped to organise the event (and our lovely host families) for all their work and for the opportunity to perform for a cappella lovers as well as being able to hear so much wonderful singing!

At the competition, we sang five songs, all arranged by Ginger and Tonic member, Jane, and choreographed by Sheona!  The songs were:

 - Hot Stuff

 - I Told You So

 - Smooth Criminal

 - Halo

 - LoveGame
